The inspiration behind “The Beginning of Never” is from my true life experience.

I’ve always been an avid reader so I’ve been familiar with ‘figuring things out’ and ‘exploring possibilities’ through books. I never thought about writing it until the story literally burned in my heart and even then, it wasn’t meant to be a novel. I just needed to write it down because the entire experience had become too much of an emotional rollercoaster to only remain in my head or worse, be forgotten.

So I began writing about it, putting in all that I could remember until eventually, I came to realize that I wanted more!

This was because unfortunately, I only had my side of the story.

I wanted to know what would have happened, but since I didn’t, I settled for the “what could have happened.” So I created a world that bore grave similarities to the original one, but was still different enough to warrant its own spotlight.

In this book, I’ve been able to come to terms with the fact that even though in life we might never get the answer to the question of what would have happened, the one that we nurse in our hearts about what could have happened is just as powerful, and some times , that is more than enough…

So yes, when I wrote some certain scenes they were straight out of the heart; raw and haunting, but it is no longer my story. It’s Lenora Baker’s – the novel’s protagonist -, and she has a more complete and fascinating tale to tell.

I started writing this book in the summer of 2012 and officially completed it in the summer of 2014. It’s been through five(5) different drafts and countless edits.

So I do hope you thoroughly enjoy this world that I’ve created, and I would absolutely love to hear from you.
